SHOTGUN/AIRGUN PERMITS & CUSTOM FORMALITIES
Upon arrival at Larnaca or Paphos airports, shooters not holding an ‘European Firearms Certificate’ must present to customs (Red Channel) the completed official shotgun/airgun & ammunition form, in order to obtain a temporary import permit.
Shooters holding an ‘European Firearms Certificate’ should not fill in the official form. They must present their Certificate at customs (Red Channel) and simply verify the serial numbers of their guns only.
The temporary gun import permits or the ‘European Firearms Certificates’ must be represented to Customs at the special bulk luggage office of the airport, at the time of departure after check-in.
IMPORTANT for all shooters (EU or non EU members): The import of 12G Auto or Semi-Auto shotguns is prohibited in Cyprus. Shooters, who intend to bring such shotguns for exclusive use at the competition, must contact the Cyprus Shooting Sport Federation at least one month before arrival in order to obtain a special shotgun import permit. The following documents must be submitted
a) copy of passport
b) copy of the ‘European Firearms Certificate’ (if any)
c) details of the shotgun (manufacturer, model and serial number)
d) a personal letter addressed to the Cyprus Police Authorities requesting the issue of a temporary shotgun import permit for participation at the Grand Prix e) a letter from the local club (or national federation) certifying the applicant’s membership with the club and his registration number.
The custom authorities will allow all participating shooters to import with them all the necessary ammunition that will be used for the competition. Local made and imported cartridges (VICTORY, OLYMPIA, RC, CLEVER and others) will be available for sale at the shooting range at approximately €5.50 – €10.00 per box of 25.
STORAGE OF SHOTGUNS & AMMUNITION
Limited storage of guns and ammunition will be available at the range.
The police authorities permit all visitors possessing a temporary shotgun import permit or an ‘European Firearms Certificate’ to carry with them and store freely their shotguns in their hotel room or place of residence, during their stay in Cyprus.
