Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are “singles” (with one player per side) and “doubles” (with two players per side). The International Federation of Badminton IBF, founded in 1934, today has 157 members.
The first Cypriots involved in Badminton were the children of Pano Amiandos village in Troodos during the 1960s. Nowadays, several athletes and gymnasts of Badminton who are affiliated to the societies that belong to the Cyprus Badminton Federation come from their own, or their parents from Asbestos.
